Information Session on Schwarzman Scholars

• Schwarzman Scholars is pleased to announce a virtual info session for prospective applicants. Anchored in a fully-funded 11-month Master’s Degree in Global Affairs at Beijing’s Tsinghua University, we are seeking high-caliber applicants who will represent the world’s next generation of leaders. With a front row seat to global crisis leadership and practical opportunities to construct interdisciplinary solutions, Schwarzman Scholars are better positioned to succeed and more in demand around the world than ever before. 
• Schwarzman Scholars is open to students and young professionals between the ages of 18 and 28 years old, regardless of nationality, who are proficient in English and have obtained an undergraduate degree. Applicants from all academic disciplines and career paths are eligible. McNair Scholars Program 

• McNair is almost at capacity for our 2020-2021 program year, but we still have 5 slots open. Students that apply by April 12th will get priority consideration.
• Dr. Fields: “The McNair Scholars program is an excellent opportunity to explore research as a possible career opportunity and to learn more about, and successfully apply to, graduate school.  The McNair Scholars Program is open to students in all Arts and Science disciplines.  Fundamentally, they are looking for students who are interested in pursuing doctoral degrees.”

• Program Description/Benefits:
  • Conduct research under the supervision of a faculty mentor
  • Participate in weekly professional development seminars
  • Receive free GRE and a $5,000 stipend
  • First-generation, Pell-eligible, and underrepresented students interested in PhD programs are encouraged to apply
  • MUST have earned at least 30 credit hours and be a full-time student.

Harvard Law School | Junior Deferral Program

• Program Description: Students who know they want to go to law school but have an interest in exploring other professional, educational, or service opportunities first should consider applying to the Harvard Law School Junior Deferral Program. Through the program, students can apply to HLS as a college junior. If admitted, students must commit to defer their offer of admission for a minimum of two years once they’ve completed their undergraduate degree. They can then use this deferral period to explore their interests and gain hands on work experience before returning to the law school classroom.
  • There is no application fee for the Junior Deferral Program. Applicants are able to apply to the program free of charge through the HLS Junior Deferral Program website. This will save JDP applicants the cost of registering for the Law School Admission Council’s Credential Assembly Service.

• Application Deadline: July 1, 2021 (application opens on March 1, 2021)
• Virtual Information Sessions: April 29, and May 27. At the sessions, students will learn more about the program, gain insight into the application, and have the opportunity to ask questions about the process. You can register for the sessions on our Junior Deferral Program website.
