Administered in partnership with Washington University’s Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, the Community Engagement Opportunity Fund is designed to remove financial barriers for students engaging in civic and/or community engagement projects throughout the St. Louis community. Beginning in September, and for the duration of the 2020-21 academic year, the Community Engagement Opportunity Fund will expand its operations to include not only civic engagement projects, but also projects that relate to anti-racism movement and social change work in the St. Louis area.
Students are eligible to apply for both one-time programs or continual, long term projects developed in partnership with community.
To apply, interested students are asked to complete an online application form. While the committee will likely make a decision based on the information you provide in the form, we also reserve the right to send follow-up questions and/or request follow-up discussions in order to ensure adherence to the fund’s mission and goals.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. The review process is not expected to take more than four weeks and it is likely that applicants will receive a decision from the Office for Student Success within two weeks.
For general inquiries or questions about one’s applications, students should reach out to the Coordinator for Student Success at studentsuccess@wustl.edu.
Please note: In compliance with university guidelines due to COVID-19 funds cannot be used for travel for community engagement. Funding is only given to projects that can be completed remotely. If you have an idea and want to talk through it with a member of the Gephardt Team. Drop by their virtual open hours.
